Punjab Public Service Commission declares the notification for the recruitment of Civil Judge Posts vacancies and conducts the process for eligible candidates. This exam is divided into 3 stages of Preliminary, Mains and Interview.


Candidates must possess a Degree of Bachelor of Law of any University incorporated by Law in India. The candidate must be a citizen of India, Nepal, or Bhutan.


Candidates should not be below 21 years and above 37 years of age on the last date of submission of Online application Forms. Central/States Government employees will have an age relaxation of up to 45 years of age; Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates for up to 42 years of age; Physically Handicapped candidates who are domicile of state of Punjab will be given age relaxation for up to 47 years of age and widow candidates, divorced and other candidates who are eligible will be given relaxation up to 42 years of age.

Prelims Exam

This 2 hours examination will consist of 125 questions. It will be an objective type paper where each question will carry 4 marks. Negative marking is applied in the Punjab Judiciary exam and 1.5 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Mains Exam

Punjab Judiciary Mains Exam consists of 5 papers. Each paper is of 150 marks. The time duration for each paper for Punjab Judiciary Mains is 3 hours. The Punjab Judiciary Mains Exam will be subjective type paper and there is no negative marking.

Paper I: Civil Law

Paper II: Civil Law

Paper III: Criminal Law

Paper IV: English Language

Paper V: Punjabi Language


The Viva-Voce shall carry 100 marks and the final result shall be prepared on the basis of the Grand Total of the marks obtained by the candidates in the Main Examination and the Viva-Voce. The interview will be conducted for the candidates who secured the minimum 50% marks in all papers of the mains exam.
